Repairers
Dante Zufolo - violin and guitar
Dante studied guitar making at the Manchester College of Art and Technology (MANCAT) where he gained a pass with distinction. After returning to London he studied part-time at Merton College, again passing his course in instrument making and repair with distinction.
He has worked for Malcolm Tysoe for five years, restoring and repairing guitars, mandolins, lutes and all members of the orchestral string family.
He has had commissions for guitars and mandolins and continues to make instruments when work and his new-born daughter allow!
Jerzy Maslanka - violin restorer and fine instrument maker
Jerzy trained in his native Poland as a cabinet maker before coming to the UK in 1991 to train at Merton College, London in the art of instrument repair and making. He started working for Malcolm Tysoe in 1993 and since then has built up an enviable reputation as both a restorer and maker of fine instruments. He has had commissions for violins, violas and cellos from some of the countries busiest professional classical musicians and his bows are in great demand.
Jerzy’s services are available by appointment only as he splits his time between Malcolm Tysoe’s and his own workshop in Krakow, Poland where he continues to make his instruments and bows.
Anton Bourdillon - woodwind, brass and percussion
Anton started working as an apprentice fitter machinist back in his native Zimbabwe. After eight years developing his engineering skills he came over to London to study at Merton College where he obtained his City and Guilds National Diploma in Musical Instrument Technology. He returned to Zimbabwe with these much needed skills to set up a workshop at the Zimbabwe College of Music and to train Zimbabwean technicians who continue to work there.
He currently lives in Kent as a self employed Instrument Technician, working on site at Malcolm Tysoe’s one day a week servicing and overhauling brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.
Anton also runs maintenance workshops during the school holidays to teach youngsters how to clean and maintain their instruments. For further information regarding these or to book your instrument in for repair please contact the shop.
Other Services Offered
Other services offered include bow rehairs, varnishing work, overhauls, restrings, set ups and virtually any other financially viable string family repairs. All brass and woodwind repairs are available (see list below for approximate prices). All guitar repairs, overhauls and setups are undertaken again on a financially viable basis. It is recommended that any repairs are booked in beforehand in order to ensure that the repairs are done for the dates required.

Stephen Sedgwick - guitar maker
Stephen is one of the country’s only makers of Harp Guitars. His instruments are in great demand internationally, especially in America where his name is synonymous with good design, fine craftsmanship and beautiful tone.
